Working with Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality) with Resource Therapy

This workshop will focus on how to best work with clients with DID. It is often very rewarding to work with DID clients, and while change is rapid, there is often at least months of opportunity for positive change. We will look at the first steps, what not to do, and what is possible.

The workshop will include:

  • An understanding of the cause of DID
  • A short video of a DID client
  • How to bring out different alters (personality parts)
  • How to establish trust
  • How to help parts gain an ability to recall other parts and communicate with them
  • How to promote healing of between alters and for alters holding trauma

Clients who developed this amazing coping skill in childhood tell us a lot about parts and the mind body connection. While the DSM5 breaks DID into multiple categories this workshop will be practical and applied to give participants the knowledge and skill to work with DID clients. Because Resource Therapy is a parts-based therapy it provides many useful techniques that merely need to be wedded with a theoretical understanding and an explanation of execution.

Professor Gordon Emmerson is the founder of Resource Therapy.
